Alana Lynch

Software Quality Assurance, Art Modelling, and Dragon Slaying

Welcome to the website of Alana Lynch, software QA professional, amateur art model, bane of dragons everywhere, purveyor of high-quality Oxford commas, world-renowned nap thief, and all-around highfalutin' sonofagun. Here, you will find a biography, my CV, some cool pictures, and how to get in touch with yours truly. You may also possibly find a dragon. Consider yourself warned; I cannot be held responsible for burns incurred while browsing.

In any case, the website design is my own, except for the animation, which is a nifty little jQuery plugin. (Not that I can't write jQuery, but why reinvent the wheel, right?) If you'd like me to design your website for you, mosey on over to the Contact section and we'll talk.

Here's something interesting:

About Me

Hi! I'm Alana. I'm currently a software engineer in test at Brightcove, where I help get Video Cloud from idea to production. Basically, I get paid to nitpick and break developers' code. It's a pretty sweet gig.

I am studying information technology at UMass Lowell (ask me why I switched from CS to IT, it's a decent story), I play the tinwhistle, and live in Somerville, MA. When I'm not eating, sleeping, or coding, I love to read anything I can get my hands on, play Minecraft, NetHack, and Go, discover interesting new food and drink, as well as watch Game of Thrones, QI, and Community.

Some of my interests include:

CV & Projects

You can download my CV if you'd like. If you would prefer it in .doc or .docx, or some other format, please drop me an e-mail or a tweet.

A few of my projects include:

Others soon to come.

Modelling

I've been an amateur model for a few months now. If you'd like to see my work, you can find me on Flickr for now. I'm experimenting with nifty image galleries to see which one I like the most (and doesn't cause my page load time to skyrocket).

I will work TF provided the images are not used commercially (i.e. the photographer does not profit off of them) and the concept and distribution are discussed beforehand. The distribution I'd prefer was agreed upon in writing for any work, paid or not. Otherwise, my rates are very reasonable. Please email for stats, rates, and links to more of my work.

Contact

I can be contacted via any of the social networks below. If you'd prefer, feel free to email me.

For Software Development & Testing If you'd like me to help out with a project or design a website for you, I would be more than happy to talk with you. When you get in touch, please let me know the specifics of your project, what your budget is like, and a time frame.

For Modelling I love talking with photographers about beautiful art or interesting concepts. When you get in touch, please let me know what you're looking for me to do, what sort of compensation you're offering and whether or not it is negotiable (e.g. TFP/CD, paid, unpaid test), location, and rough time.
